Hauschka [http://www.myspace.com/hauschka]
Having studied classical piano for ten years, Dusseldorf-based pianist/composer Volker Bertelmann's work as Hauschka is based upon a playful exploration of the possibilities of the 'prepared' piano. His resulting tracks are vivid, unconventional pieces made in a spirit of playful research-enthusiasm, which he's taken around the world - in the USA with Múm, in Japan with Colleen, and a debut, sold-out London show with Max Richter. Hauschka's music is a thing of beauty - intertwined melodies and rythyms that flit between gorgeously lush and complex and stunning minimalism. Definitely not one to miss!
"Inventive and mischeivious, with more than a nod to serial music master Steve Reich [this is] a lushly-layered delight." - Rock Sound (8/10)
"Bertelmann moulds this debris into beautiful shapes, delicate mood pieces and rythmically infused vignettes." - Plan B
Gareth S. Brown [http://www.myspace.com/garethsbrown]
With influences as diverse as Eastern European folk music, funeral marches and jewellery boxes, Gareth creates gorgeous work of layered beauty with nods towards Philip Glass, Terry Riley and Michael Nyman as well as latter day travellers such as Max Richter, Yann Tiersen and Aphex Twin. Amazingly accomplished, hypnotic music.
”…we embark on a journey that takes us through the nineties ambience and seventies experimentation, through beautiful string orchestrations and the subtle chimes of music boxes. It is very beautiful, very epic and needs to be listened to repeatedly. Soft lighting music." - Sandman
Hauschka's latest album (Ferndorf)

Hello all
You may be interested to know that we have a very limited number of tickets available for Hauschka + Gareth S. Brown at The Holy Trinity Church on Saturday November 8th available to buy with no booking fee... so they'll be a bargain at £5 each! If you'd like one, drop us an e-mail at forestofsound@hotmail.co.uk.
As a reminder, there will be a bar operating at the church on the night that will be selling alcoholic refreshments very cheaply. This does mean that you won't be able to bring your own booze... but all the profits made on the bar will be going to the artists, and you can still bring your own non-alcoholic drinks.
Thanks,
