The amazing Laurel Collective for just £1.50 this Friday
The outstanding Laurel Collective are playing at The Good Ship this Friday with 3 other bands, with DJs after til 4am. All for £1.50 before 9pm. £3.50 after. Everyone who sees this band loves them, well, everyone I've met anyway.
The Invisible are Dave Okumu (formerly of Jade Fox), Tom Herbert (Polar Bear/Acoustic Ladyland) and Leo Taylor (Gramme/Zongamin). Their ethereal music, wide-ranging in its influences; giving a distinct nod to Sonic Youth and Radiohead in their guitar experimentation, there are rhythmic, African elements borrowed from Talking Heads; harmonic influences from Queens of the Stone Age.
The Laurel Collective
Never less than hugely entertaining. Like Paul Simon on acid meets the Talking Heads. Gleeful and celebratory.
Utterly engaging Mica mixes the abilities of an acoustic troubadour and a grimester
Masters of Disguise
Cheerfully progressive fayre.
From 1130 until 4am DJs Sid Trotter and Judy Tuesday play a mix of electronica, leftfield beats and indie/dance crossover to a friendly international crowd.
