At the opening night of OBERON, cult New York artist John Jodzio will create a magical installation featuring his characteristic topsy turvey cityscapes populated by cats, leopards and hoardings that run riot with the American Dream. Using a combination of projections, life size figures and hand painted installations, Jodzio will transform FABRIC into a wild fantasy landscape. Providing the musical accompaniment is New York legend Anita Sarko. Sarko, the original New York DJ invented an exciting and eclectic style of DJing at the now infamous Studio 54. Since the 1980’s, Sarko has continued to set trends, both through her extraordinary DJing career (she played Andy Warhol’s Funeral!) and her regular contributions to Interview Magazine. Anita Sarko will be supported by DJ sets from London club land Kingpins Severino and Jim Stanton, bringing you a party that is guaranteed to keep you dancing late into the night.
Fred Mann has flown Anita Sarko in from New York for the night and comments:
“The best nights I have ever spent in a club have been listening to Anita Sarko DJ, she is an amazing lady and I can’t imaging launching my first club with out her!”
Live entertainment will be provided during the evening with amazing sets from:
A 10 piece performance-pop orchestra who combine complex and beautiful arrangements with stunning visuals to create a powerful live experience that challenges and enthralls.
Soho’s finest salacious dance act containing their catch hits and amazing dance versions of songs from their album ‘Hunger’s The Best Sauce’.
At 2am we will be treated to the 3-D DJ UK premiere as musical legend Martyn Ware presents The Future Of Sound, which will provide an amazing sample of his hits (Human League / Heaven 17) and will feature very special guests you won’t want to miss (more to be confirmed).
RADIO EGYPT VIP ROOM
The VIP lounge will be run by invitation, hosted by the fabulous Johnny Woo and the Team of Radio Egypt. For OBERON this legendary Shoreditch dance party is born again, featuring classic performances and including new works by Woo himself, films by Peter Podworski, music by Richardette, Prince Nelly, The Sizzle Sisters and others. Jeanette rules the rope and the more fabulous you look the more likely she is to let you in!
Entry to the balcony bar will be strictly only open to masked clubbers, masks will be provided at the door. The balcony bar will play host to a spectacular performance courtesy of John Lee Bird and Steff who will make a magical world of very strange glittery mushrooms. Monsters cavort in a crazy garden, giving you a fantastic view of the main stage.
