"And while this year has seen a slate of dubstep albums-- Burial, Boxcutter, Kode9-- that you and your cat can enjoy while doing the dishes in your studio apartment, The World Is Gone tops them all." Pitchfork
"The World Is Gone announces the arrival of a major new talent of Leftfield-like hitting potential" Time Out
"A dizzying collection of styles and shapes— from dubstep, to playgirl grime, to spartan folk... [Various Production] are as talented at sequencing as they are at hunting down fascinating vocalists" Stylus Magazine
VARIOUS PRODUCTION signed to XL last year after an A&R scrum from leading electronic and mainstream labels. They released their debut The World Is Gone about a year ago to considerable critical acclaim.
Although they have made a name for themselves as DJ's, they have, amazingly never played live in the UK before. The live show features visuals, MC's, three indie vocalists and a turntablist that runs his decks through a load of effects pedals. They've played a load of festivals over the summer including Sonar where their relatively early 5pm slot still managed to draw about 1000 people. Their second album is nearing completion and they have a series of 12 inch's planned for the remainder of the year. Expect a lot of new material at this show.
WRECK 14 also features the Radio 6 approved Liquid High Technology Hip Hop of REPTILES, the sweet mutant pop of AKIRA and the dark electronic punk guitars, pounding rhythms and sample-based tastyness of KALEV.
