Tim Ten Yen/Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences/Horsebox/Jimmy from the Bobby McGees/Spinmaster Pla
When: Tuesday June 5
Where: The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, Kilburn NW6
Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences present a second dose of noisy, chaotic offbeat fun featuring some of the most unusual and exciting acts around today (or at least, some of the most unusual and exciting acts that Paul's aware of).
Paul calls it an 'outsider pop' night. He has no idea what he means by that but thinks it probably makes sense in terms of the line-up. This month's Silent Night presents the following bill:
8 - 8:15 Spinmaster Plantpot
Performance poetry at its most extreme, Spinmaster Plantpot is the musical equivalent of marmite, although not quite as good on toast. Some see him as a sharp, witty, cutting edge outsider poet whilst others see him as a man standing on a stage, ranting. However few would disagree that, in a world of homogeneity, Plantpot stands out as a true original. Almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in your life and absolutely not to be missed.

8:20 - 8:50 Jimmy the Homeless
Better known as the frontman of cult boy/girl combo (and late-night Radio 1 favourites) the Bobby McGees, Jimmy McGee performs a one-man-and-his-ukelele set combining caustic wit and coarse lyrics with an unexpectedly touching, tender side. Expect to laugh, cry and feel offended, often all at the same time…

9 - 9:30 Horsebox
The tightest, brightest band in the city present jarring paeans to blind-drunk love on the bus, elation in stupid postcodes and waking up in the rain. Sounding a bit like the pop group Syd Barrett never got round to forming, Horsebox offer exquisite, glorious and ever-so-slightly scruffy singalong songs delivered with charm, wit and panache.
9:40 - 10:10 Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences
As well as hosting the night, Paul will appear with his band to deliver his usual brand of intense, frenzied and chaotic outsider pop songs. These are exciting times in Camp Hawkins - Paul releases debut single "The Evil Thoughts" (a split 7" with L'il Lost Lou) on Jezus Factory Records on June 11 while "I Fell in Love With a Moment In Time" has recently been picked up and played by Radio 1's Huw Stephens. Expect catchy tunes, humour, charisma, audience participation and an onslaught of cuddly toys…

10:20 - 10:50 Tim Ten Yen
Armed only with an MP3 player, a smoke machine and the Sinister Cat, the 'Sensational Singing Salaryman' seduces audiences with his selection of finely-crafted pop songs and a live show that is exhilarating, engaging and simply damn good fun. Tim has recently released his debut single "Girl Number One" on Fleet Street Records, which showcases some of the most exhilarating, imaginative and danceable pop music around today
Plus DJing from Ian Button (Death in Vegas) and Will Horsebox (erm, Horsebox)
Music starts at 8pm sharp. The night runs 'til late.
Entry £5
Free biscuits for those who arrive before 8pm. The biscuits will be much better than the biscuits last time Paul tried this.
