Thee More Shallows:
San Francisco dwelling near-orchestral post-pop trio
return to bless our shores this april, touring their 3rd album the ‘Book of Bad Breaks’ (released
On Anticon records). This band produce an almost Donnie Darko like-intense higher powered beauty. Borderline genius and unlike anything else around.
“This is a thing of impossible beauty -- sweet, fierce, fragile, funny, heavy, strangely skewed and independently-minded...Ralph Vaughan Williams and Tortoise,
“kissed by neo-classical grace and grazed by white noise. It's goddamned gorgeous.” -- Time Out London, on the More Deep Cuts LP.
“Fuelled by an excess of imagination and dizzying noise assault. More Deep Cuts is a remarkable, mercurial
masterpiece.” -- 8/10, Rock Sound
Michael L Clamp: Main man of Lazarus Clamp performs a rare solo set, but even unaided and on acoustic he still does irascible as scary as Albini and Alt. Folk-Pop as pretty The Go Betweens. Middlesborough born Michael has been recording and gigging since 93, and has recorded 4 albums, played SXSW in 2001 (before it was deemed cool), toured with Giant Sand, supported Laura Cantrel, Cat Power, Chris Brokaw, Come, Karate, The New Year, Richard Buckner etc and is now one of the most prolific and academically highly qualified songwriters the UK has (he is a Dr of Psychology in the real world).
“one of the minor, undiscovered, rough-cut gems of British independent music "-Drowned in Sound
MJ Hibbett & The Validators :formed in 1999, and since then have:
• Released three albums, eight singles and appeared on loads of compilations
• Played a session from Maida Vale live on Radio One
• Had an international hit with the video of their song "Hey Hey 16k" - 3,000,000 downloads and counting!
• Had an album named "Record Of The Year" in Rolling Stone
• Written songs by request for Steve Lamacq's BBC6 show and performed them live on air
• Toured all around the UK, as well as performing in Ireland, Spain, New Zealand and the USA.
• Is really nice.
Former Utopia: An actual East London born black humoured miserablists.
"Pretty and complex, melodic and intricate, fragile and full all at the same time" -Robots and Electric Brains.
“Bit of a corker if you ask me though”-Losing Today
“Live, ‘Former Utopia’ is like Smog on Holiday in Shellac….double scary and uniformly astounding!” Drowned In Sound
