From the esteemed writings of Golden Lab Records...
FRIDAY 3RD NOVEMBER, THE KLONDYKE CLUB, LEVENSHULME, 8PM, £5
NEPTUNE + i had an inkling
We put this incredible American band from Boston, MA on last year in Salford and only about 15 people were lucky enough to witness it. This is one of the most unbelievable bands we've clapped eyes/ears on. Ever. They just did an album of improv recordings which will be coming out as a 12" LP on Golden Lab around the same time and it's a joyous, metallic, criss-crossing, clanging, now-wave monster. We feel priveleged to be able to release it and to have them play for us again. They make all their own instruments from scrap metal, which leads one to imagine some kind of Cabaret Voltairesque industrial grimble, but that couldn't be further from NEPTUNE’s sound. They have more in common with CB contemporaries This Heat, although they're not really comparable to anyone in their destruction of pop songs achieved by mangling time signatures and playing them as if through rusted tin bath speakers not built to take the wattage. Those instruments sure as fuckery look pretttttyyyyy scary too. To those 15 who showed up last time - whooooop, they're back! To everyone else who didn't - don't miss out a second time, you'll totally regret it.
Support will come from i had an inkling who'll be playing their first gig since summer. Should be something of a monster rock review, as the band is now dedicated to improvising its entire set. Expect the drummer to jazz one off, the guitarist to skreeee one out no wave style and the bass player to kraut it out loud.
