HIGHSOC & GOOD NAME FOR A RACEHORSE PRESENT...
Special Little Gig #1 @ The Rose of England, Nottingham (next to House of Fraser on the Mansfield Rd)
Dirty, snotty and thoroughly abrasive hardcore upstarts making a big big name for themselves (drownedinsound 9/10 and 'DiScover' tip). Like Unwound coming unwound, with added PUNK. (www.myspace.com/letscommunicate)
CATS AND CATS AND CATS
Intense, instrumental disco rock for brain and body. Like Explosions in the Sky and Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies getting hot and bothered with Donna Summer. Just signed to Unlabel. (www.myspace.com/catsandcatsandcats)
Sometimes, bands do complicated songs just to show they can. This lot don't; they do complicated songs because they have to. And their songs are packed with such a ferocity of emotion and such attention to detail that you can't help but get caught up in it all. Fans of volcano! and King Crimson will find much to admire here, and their singer's the only person I know of that I'd even dream of comparing to Jeff Buckley. (www.myspace.com/omaticband)
THE EXPLOITS OF ELAINE
Using mandolin, zither, bass, guitar, vocal harmonies and more to create music that weaves its way around your subconscious and occasionally explodes in carefully controlled cathartic bursts.(www.myspace.com/theexploitsofelaine)
Tis £4 on the door, or £3 with a highsoc card.
