Calvin Harris frustrated with Dizzee number one

A rift opened up in the masterly anthem-penning partnership that is Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris today.

Harris has begrudgingly stated that he deserves more credit for the current UK number one ‘Dance Wiv Me’.

Speaking to the Daily Star the singer/producer (pictured) claims that fans do not realise how much of his work was put into the project:

“I'm slightly frustrated with those who just think I sing the hook. I did the beat, of course. But never mind, I'm made up that Dizzee is at number one.”

Seems Dizzee was right to have Harris only 'featuring'. There’s not been a true duet since Aerosmith and Run DMC.

Video: 'Dance Wiv Me'

Both

Tools

so incorrect

Dizzee is the opposite of tool

Calvin Harris

is soooooooo uncool, no dance skills nothing just a lame bob up & down like some Churchill back shelf wobbly head dog.

Calvin just be happy!

Most rappers from America use music producers to make their music. Jay z doesn't produce his own music he raps over the beats and gets the credit for the track. Calvin Harris should just be happy it reached number one. Calvin Harris did a song with the Mitchell brothers "I wish I could move like Michael Jackson" and it snow balled so I think Dizzee Rascal can accept the credit for this one.

I just can't work these two out

Obv, big kudos to Dizzee for the mercury win an tha'. Good album. But then some right toss tracks since, seems like the boyish charm went. And Calvin Harris... gah, it's almost so simple, and 99% gash lyrics, but I do love prancing around in boxers to Merrymaking when getting ready to go out. Same with this, lyrical dogshit but it IS catchy, and far far too short.

It seems

The Daily Star just took that quote word-for-word from his Myspace blog.

Hmm

Would Calvin Harris even exist if there was no LCD Sound System? He owes that dude lots, plus he's shit compared. Dizzee doesn't do much on this track so probably only deserves credit for making it mildly more credible.

There is something

so 'rapey' about that dance move Dizzee does when he says 'backbone'. Shudder.

"I did the beat"

And oh my, what a beat it is!... Shut up Calvin.

wow

first time ive ever heard that song. yet another song at number one that ive no idea about. go me!

AH MY EYES!

SO INDIE

LoL!

the video

is incredibly low budget considering

^ this

And Calvin Harris seems to have a terribly annoying habit of looking to the side slightly before beginning each of his lines

what?

doesn't that fit the lyrics?

:D

This bassline

is ripped off an early 80s electro disco tune and it's driving me mad trying to remember the name of the track

grr

I expected better

It's Calvin Harris, you knew the lyrics were going to be afterjizz. But the beat lacks the instant hook of "Acceptable..." and it never really gets going for me. Hardly a duet either. 2/5.

the word "merk"

makes this song a winner

Dizzee can do "pop" well

such as Dream or Jus a Rascal.

But he can do it really badly too, like this or the one with Lily Allen.

this is the worst video

ive seen in a long time...its like the bad old days of hadaway!

if this is at number one, then theyre going to have to invent a new number for the brighton port authority single comes out with dizee and david byrne...now that sticks in your head...

"Wiv"

British ebonics. Hehe.

haha this song

is epic

i can't tell if i like it, but i love it.

Calvin Harris

is shitter than Mark Ronson.

He's right

I'm sure he's a lovely bloke and all..

but i just don't get Calvin Harris, musically so to speak. I just don't, there seems to be no skill whatsoever (lyrically or vocally).

I'm not expecting him to go into alto operatics but really, where's the appeal?

(sorry Calvin!)

I did think it was

Calvin Harris featuring Dizzee when I first heard it

He did the beat?

Um...it's not that great is it.

What a great record

But I can't help thinking that although Calvin is 'right' so to speak, it would have been a lot cooler to keep quiet about this. Anyone who's heard his album could work out he did the beat.

this ^

is exactly what i thought.

crumbs.

it was just summat he wrote in his blog.

stupid press.

NO NO NO! HE SPOKE OUT!

HE PASSED A COMMENT! PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO STOP LIKING HIM LIKE THEY DO RADIOHEAD! HE'S NUMBER ONE SO HAVING ANYTHING LESS THAN AN AMAZING OPINION ON THIS MAKES HIM A TWAT!

Or something, apparently.

Complete

Set of Cunts

go DO ONE mate

fuck off Calvin, we already have a LCD, we dont need another one...

and dizzee aint no Skepta.

this song is

an abomination

srsly though,

this song is ace

I love how

Calvin Harris makes sure he pronounces the 't' in 'date'. I lol a little every time.
