A three-and-a-half minute slice of ripe-for-picking country music, The Tailors’ debut (we presume) single, presented here in limited-edition 7” format, is utterly gorgeous. There’s not much more that needs to be said that that, really. The vocals are delivered with a slight shyness, and the music - replete with country standard the pedal steel - is warm and inviting like a fire lit shack on a dusty prairie.
The b-side here, ‘Backslap Club’ follows a similar musical path - a well-worn one it may be, but rarely does this style of music ever fail to engage with a listener, such is its open, confessional nature. Ripe for picking indeed, and deliciously juicy, this is wonderful, spirit-nourishing stuff.
