Bit corporate of me maybe but I can’t help falling head first into the smoky jazzness of this baby – maybe it’s the clouds outside matching the fogfuck in my head, but it’s undeniable that Ilya’s latest track is quality, quality stuff.
Produced and written by the Bristolian triumverate of late-nite-café vocalist Jo Swan, main scribe Nick Pullin and überproducer Dan Brown, ’Bellissimo’ is a lay-back-n-think-of-Eton frisson of naïve dreamery that rises from its TV-ad shackles to create a barby-blanket swirl of sensuous, loungey majesty with a corking, praeturnaturally perfect arrangement that diffuses and dilates and cuts a swathe directly to the love muscle. For once, the MOR produced-to-despair slickness and oft-saccharine easy-listening genre has thrown up a rare and arresting treat.
I believe in a thing called love, indeed. Who doesn't?
