There's nothing like a nice bit of wall-of-sound riffage to brighten up a bored and disappointed rock fan's listening experience. From the evidence on display here, there's nothing boring or disappointing about what Kinesis have to offer, which is instead diverse but consistently interesting - a rare talent in a world where most b-sides are either virtual non-entities or token ballads with little drive.

'And They Obey' is instantly engaging, beginning with a discordant smash of an intro which soon hurls you into a punchy verse and anthemic chorus. A little formulaic perhaps, but this _is_ rock'n'roll after all, and a lack of originality can be excused if the execution makes up for it. Which in this case it does. Even despite the political edge to the lyrics (whatever happened to music for escapism?) it's possible for even the most apathetic person to lose themselves in this. If the riffs were a little less predictable and the guitar solos more explorative, this would be perfect.

This is extremely promising, but while finding fault in the note-perfect but equally passionate rock of Kinesis is something of a challenge, it's possible that the formula could become a little repetitive on a full-length record.
