There hasn't been a guitar tune that could be described as "chipper" for quite sometime. In fact, not since the heady days of britpop gave brief chart action to everyone from Bennet to Silver Sun has a band succeeded in making poppy guitar music equally at home in a student union and on housewife fm. Candyheads don't want you to feel their pain, they don't want to challenge you intellectually, they just want to make your mundane day job pass that little bit easier. 'Falling Down' follows all the verse-chorus-instrumental rules to a clinical degree with a clean carefree rock guitar sound. You will have the chorus memorised within the first listen. Granted, track two is an average cover of the hideously perky 'Mr Blue Sky' and track three belongs on the last Shed 7 album but overall it's a pleasant, if slightly underwhelming, debut.
