The Buggers first grabbed my attention when I saw them a few weeks ago playing a small local punk night at the Foundry in Birmingham. Their set was top notch, skilfully dishing out tuneful punk rock anthems to a wilful crowd lapping up every strum & beat. It’s no wonder they were voted No.7 best unsigned band in last year’s Kerrang reader’s poll.
And after wrapping my waxy ears around the three tracks on offer here you kind of expect something to be done about it, because this is excellent. From the second the title track bounces out of the speakers with a cheeky melodic refrain The Buggers just ooze class and top quality tunes.
Vocalist/ guitarist Gav delivers powerfully catchy harmonies a little like The Movielife but mixes in a little of Snuff’s feel good vibes to even it all out. Ultimately, each track is varied, well-played and full of attitude – something that any good band needs and which this one has in abundance. Look, will someone please hurry up & sign these guys so they can record an album of these tunes!!
