Ah yes. This is what we've been waiting for ever since Dog Eat Dog stopped releasing "No Fronts" every other week. Anthemic skate-punky rappy kinda stuff with a chorus the size of a disabled toilet. 28 Days are huge in their native Australia, one of only nine antipodean bands to have debuted at Number One. "Rip It Up" seems to be just what they need to break them around the world. It's Dog Eat Dog/Beastie Boys/CIV impressions with enough attitude to make it sound convincing, and enough originality to make it sound just that little bit different. It's not going to expand your musical horizons unless you live a very sheltered life, but it's going to keep you entertained for three minutes and forty seconds, and you can't really ask for much more, can you? Maybe genre-busting will come later, once world domination has been achieved.
