For a demo recording, the guitars sound fantastic. The humbucker abuse during The Lams’ ‘Different For Me’ is a thriving focal point for a song that doesn’t seem to realise its full potential. Mark Hammerton - the man whose name falls just after Barat and Doherty on ‘Cant Stand Me Now’s’ writing credits – provides a set of vocal tones that suit his guitar grumbles perfectly. Unfortunately the tune - sexy and melodic - doesn’t seem to be pushed hard enough, and if it wasn’t for Hammerton's city-centric lyrical ideas, this song could be in danger of falling into Vines territory. ‘Let’s Go’ on the other hand, with its refrain of “Let’s go / And fuck each other”, is a rightfully squalid piece of gutter punk with an infectiously memorable chorus. This tune has enough lustful energy to make its chorus hook seemingly turn from a lyrical instruction to a warming reality.
