The Lymes

Still In Black

Label: Release Date: 22/09/2002

shadyadie by [redacted] September 22nd, 2002

Hi. I’ve just been listening to Five. Pop albums aren’t really great – it’s a case of “here are the singles! Oh, and here’s the rest of the album. Sorry.” No, pop albums are generally shit, apart from ‘Greatest Hits’ albums. The Lymes, however, I’m sure would like to make a good album. They are a ROCK band after all. The Lymes did a gig for us and they were pretty good, if a little rough around the edges.

The Lymes are a young band who write Proper Rock Music. They definitely have a knack of good songwriting. ‘Still In Black’ has a good solid beat, some good harmonies, an OK chorus. It’s not outstanding but I’m having a Demo Day and believe me I’ve been hearing much, much worse. ‘Waiting On Your Answers’ is a minor improvement – a little more dynamic and interesting. ‘Nausea’ is very likely to cause exactly as the title suggests.

They’re still searching for that little something to make them stand out from the pack. Still, this pisses all over their last demo in terms of quality.
