"I've got my cards laid on the table, you won't show your hand...", cue epic sounding guitar solo riff with fuzzing guitars underneath trying their hardest to write an anthem. It's very nearly there, leaving aside the predictable solo work this could be any of the bands that never quite made it in the heyday of britpop (hello Marion...). Track two 'Losing' follows the old rule of being a slow, largely acoustic, work to contrast with the blustering opener.
The rest of the cd is all well and good but the essential problem is that The Exiles know how to write tunes that sound a lot like a hundred loser "corporate" indie bands that came before them. Mind you that was in 1995 so we're probably due a revival anytime soon.
Possibly "the new" Northern Uproar.
