The Sounds

Living in America

Label: Warner Music Sweden Release Date: 05/05/2003

3801
ssfucker by Stacey Starfucker May 16th, 2003

*Stacey sits in her bedroom, stereo blaring out The Sounds' 'Living in America'. They aren’t living in America as they come from Sweden, but maybe that is the point.*

Oh my god, I’m like in a time warp. The Sounds look like some kinda '70s punk band.

Now there’s a surprise

The singer’s made up like some blonde bombshell, and the CD cover's got a vinyl version photographed on it. Like totally retro.

*Stacey wasn’t around when vinyl was the only option, neither, I’m guessing, were The Sounds...but I’m just being pedantic*

I feel like my mom must’ve been, dancing around at CBGBs.

Well your mother grew up on a trailer park, but you can believe what she tells you

It’s so, so, so *been done before, often and recently*, amazing, they sound totally like what I’m into… I think I love The Sounds. It’s so fresh and new, but with that edge, like **Black Rebel Motorcycle Club* and The bastard children of Chaz and Dave* Libertines look and sound like they were actually there, yuhknow when punk rock was born.

hmm..

I have to tell everyone about The Sounds.

yes, exactly what the world needs, another electro, punk band, fronted by a ‘cool’ looking singer. How refreshing and new.
