This is a neat rush of old school melodic punk rock from long term south Wales punk rock crew. With a much more British twist in their sound than the current toon charged American spuzz that dominates the market, Foreign Legion** are veterans of the south wales punk rock scene with roots that go right back to the late seventies.
Despite their vintage they still have a neat edge and show no sign of the sort of middle aged musical spread that kills off many thirty plus rockers. With a collection of heart on their sleeve songs about their lives with small 'p' politics and a welsh valley stout hearted socialism infusing their lyrical bent- Foreign Legion maybe be old skool but with a whole new generation discovering this most potent form of music that's not a disadvantage. The reason that their album sounds so vital says more about the tragedy of the lightweight nature of much modern punk rock with its pride in gormless posturing and dumbing down.
The fact that The Clash's Mick Jones produces here is no mere coincidence - class punk rock from a distant time.
