*YES YES!! *Punk rock and full on back to basics, just scratch that garish male vocal, and replace it with the dulcit tones of Penny in AOTD style.
Bursting with energy and intelligence, AOTD easily build throughout ‘Animosity’ with twangy and subtle effects, plenty of feedback, fast 4/4 drumming, just to throw you into a much more harmonic swing of things to contemplate ‘Real Love’.
Aggression and entrapment both come from ‘The Sun Is Your Enemy’, in the anger, quick cutting riffs and ever quickening drums, the release is incredibly claustrophobic and itchy. It’s quite easy to get a feel for the band as desperately escapist, much as many punk/post-punk bands feel is fundamental to escape from an otherwise dry genre.
*Afraid of the Dark *are light at the end of a closing tunnel, the ride there is not for the asthmatic, but is certainly worth it for the willing.
