Ikonika - Aerotropolis
If nothing else, this technically impressive and beautiful sounding record acts as a reminder of just how far things have come since those halcyon days of 2009-10.»

Having helped define the "post-dubstep" landscape with her previous Hyperdub releases, on "Aerotropolis" Ikonika sets controls for the heart of the sun, side-swerving self-conscious "darkness" and bass-dwelling to create a "summer" record. Elements of her previous work surface, low-end swells and intricate rhythmic patterns, but it's the embracing of pop style - most noticeably early house and Italo elements - that define "Aerotropolis." This being Ikonika however, nothing is ever explicit, but on tracks like Mr. Cake it's hard not to imagine the ecstatic mood of the dancefloor taking over.
