closefrightened rabbit are back with an ep of completely new material, the five track ep entitled 'state hospital' ep. hard at work on the follow up to their critically adored album 'the winter of mixed drinks,' frightened rabbit and songwriter scott hutchison reveal a heart-wrenching, majestic signpost on the road to the new album. 'state hospital,' the eponymous lead track, is an evocative, heavy-hearted ballad dressed in a rich production. hutchison's verses are steeped in a poetic story-telling tradition and the chorus, which begins 'her heart beats like a breezeblock thrown down the stairs,' is a stirring crescendo which hints at what will be an important, massive release when the band unveil their new album.
