Another splendid gothic riff from the creaking top drawer of Glaswegian rockers Sons And Daughters, flashing across your vision like migraine blobs, bass notes yammering away at your brain with stalker insistency. It sounds like an unravelling protagonist in a film staring into a broken mirror after flinging a vodka bottle at his reflection, or more prosaically, like the Bad Seeds' brittle menace channelled into hook-driven power-pop.
Admittedly, matters aren’t helped much by a disingenuous cover of Seal’s doom-laden epic ‘Killer’ on the flip, but for the main Sons And Daughters sound drunk and in earnest, which augurs well for some unguarded truths to come spilling out around the time their new album hits early in the new year.
