The second single from Brighton’s Restlesslist, a collective including (but not limited to) members of The Electric Soft Parade and Zettasaur, is something of an oddity considering what one might expect from such musicians. 'Dirty Pint' is a weirdly eerie bounce-along cut and pasted together from a selection of choice samples and crackling retro beats. By ‘retro’ don’t think traditional dance music, either; we’re talking Game Boy-style boiiing FX here.
Comparable in spirit to Holy Fuck, instrumentalists Restlesslist lack the boisterousness of their across-the-pond peers, but nevertheless have produced a mighty enough racket here to attract the attentions of ears already enraptured by the Canadians and also the likes of Errors and Metronomy. ‘Dirty Pint’ and flipside ‘Mint Sauce’ – great titles, incidentally – aren’t particularly original, but they are a tonne of fun. Investigate to perk up your annual S.A.D. setback.
