In a statement to their mailing list, Turner also stated that the band had been trying to "quit" the label for the last six months, and that now they're free of their contract "this is actually the greatest day in our band's somewhat short history", although a spokesperson for the band told NME the split with Virgin was "a joint one."
This also happens to follow the shakeup of EMI (the major label Virgin is part of), with the report they were dropping 20% of their roster. Virgin recently shut its Hut imprint, as previously reported on DiS.
