Jason Phillips, Executive Producer of So Solid Crew, is the second member to be jailed for gun crime, following Asher D last year. ‘G-Man’ was banged up for possessing a loaded weapon after his ME9 handgun containing seven rounds was found after a police chase from a botched drugs deal in west London.
The judge, taking him down a few pegs, remarked that the gun was for "bravado and the thrill of having it, rather than the intention of using it", adding that it was "well capable of being used to kill". The Victims of Crime Trust condemned the jail term, saying he should have been handed a longer prison term.
This comes after the (c)rap group’s continuing quest to spout anti-violence rhetoric down the throats of kids during their constant tours of sold out schools and youth clubs.
Jason – can I call you Jason? - who apparently looked like a bit of pussy in court, tried to deny the allegations, not realising that his DNA was all over the gun.
Doh!
Sentencing Phillips, Judge James Wadsworth QC said: "Quite apart from the work you do in the music world, you are in a position from the way in which you have grown up in this town to know the immense dangers that there are in having that sort of weapon."
The rapper’s solicitors said they were "reviewing the jury's verdict and the sentence, and will be considering the matter further."
Discuss: What would you do to G-Man if you were the fat, violent rapist sharing his cell?
