Taking its lead from previous UK successes in London and Glasgow, Manchester is now set to carry the Ladyfest torch, holding its very own version of the festival. Originally held in Olympia, Washington in 2000, it aims to showcase the musical and artistic work of women.
And now it needs your help. With the festival confirmed as taking place at The Zion Centre on the 4th to the 7th of September, organisers are looking for volunteers to participate in the planning of such a large-scale event, as well as performers to show their art, run workshops or just share their ideas. Lineups are still being booked and confirmed, but rest assured it will rock more than a thousand nights in the pub with your local indie-boy shit. So get moving!
In addition to the final tour dates previously reported here, Bis have confirmed a Ladyfest Benefit gig at the Manchester Life Café 25th April. Support comes in the shape of the fantastic Hooker, and already kinda-infamous Valerie.
