Don't be fooled. 'Terminal Sales' is a two-cd compilation commemorating the decade and a half since 1988, of throbbing, funky, grainy, grungey, gravy, rock greatness which Sub Pop has produced.
You only need to look at the bands on the tracklist to realise what great music and affect this label has had: Sebadoh, Beachwood Sparks, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Shins, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Iron & Wine, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Ugly Casanova, Les Savy Fav, Hot Hot Heat, Rapeman, Nirvana, The Murder City Devils, Bright Eyes, and Ween…
According to subpop.com this record includes "a slew of as-yet-unreleased-on-CD tracks, many issued originally as part of the infamous Sub Pop Singles Club." And the site also says it's released on June 3rd (we guess that's a US date).
In slightly relevant news, Drowned in Sound is currently in the process of following a grand tradition of starting a singles club and releasing important tracks from soon to be huge acts. More news on that soon.
