Mclusky put their name to South Wales Anti-War tour
Jane-O by Jane Oriel February 1st, 2003
The Anti-war Tour of 5 south Wales venues kicks off 16th February at Merthyr Tydfil to conclude with a headlining set from Mclusky in Cardiff 23rd of the month.

The tour has been pulled together by Cunning Stunt Promotions of Brigend and features the "cream of youth" the very same demographic involved in the heaviest warfare during any amed conflict.

To coincide with the tour, Rhondda based Poisoned Whiskey Records have produced the 'The Consequences Of Our Actions' CD, which makes public the label's opposition to the impending war on Iraq. The 11 Welsh bands with one each from Coventry and Belfast who feature on the CD share a common view on the futility of war, as do the local branch of the trades union UNISON, who have sponsored the project.

The CD will be available from the first date of the tour onwards as well as from the label's website here.

The bands contributing to the CD are Flailing Wail, fresh from the first DiS night at the Cardiff Barfly last month, The Dirtbox Funsters and Karma Violet from the Rhondda, and The Wishinghour, Panel and Flipside from Cardiff. From Merthyr Tydfil and brandishing punk that's so cool it hurts are Midasuno with Ten Minute Preview, Newport's The Viva Knevils and NUKE from Bridgend. Alien Matter travel down from Rhyl in North Wales and also coming South are Set Against from Coventry and The Dangerfields from across the water in Belfast.

Marcus Lawry, who runs Poisoned Whiskey Records, gave the reasoning behind the project.
"Everybody involved at the label feels strongly opposed to the threat of war on Iraq, so we decided to voice our opposition through the release of a CD and subsequent tour. It is also an opportunity for us to showcase some of the excellent bands currently tearing up the South Wales scene as well as releasing something with a message behind it. I think UNISON saw this project as a positive move by a young label, and we are very grateful of the enthusiasm and support that they are showing us."
