Live Forever in the 90's
oappleby by Ollie Appleby January 29th, 2003
The confirmed cinema release date for John Dower's directorial debut 'Live Forever', a filmic insight into 90's Brit Pop culture, has been announced as the 14th February, that's Valentines Day y'all.

So, all you kids who think the 90's were great compared to today will be getting a double helping of cream here, just look at what they say about the film... "At the beginning of the Nineties something happened in Britain and it was great. The Eighties had been crap, crap politics and crap music. And then in 1990 there erupted a spirit of Euphoria, culminating a few years later in an explosion of creativity in British popular culture."

"In the mid-nineties, across the globe, music, art, fashion and film, if it was British, then it was cool. Liam and Noel Gallagher, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker, Damien Hirst, Ozwald Boateng ... our homegrown talent flourished in all creative fields."

This film claims to "document this phenomenon" along with tales of the first New Labour Government seizing and 'Cool Britannia' the 'outrageous banter' from the Gallagher brothers, comments from Massive Attack's 3D, Jarvis Cocker, Damon Albarn and others covering the Stone Roses (infamous) Spike Island gig all the way to the "manufactured bands of today".

'Live Forever' is a Passion Pictures Production for the BBC, Film Council and Horsebridge Productions and is released by Helkon SK Film Distribution on 14th February 2003, Certificate TBC. Oh, I almost forgot, the music from (and somehow for a retrospective, 'inspired' by the film) is available from February on EMI/Virgin TV.

Remember, if you missed out on the 90's last decade, this is yet another way to have them cleaned up, packaged up and spoon fed back to you, enjoy.
