Hello. Getting cold, isn't it? DiS is pleased to announce a winter warmer BBQ for 2005. Our past events of this kind have seen the likes of The Rakes, Mclusky, yourcodenameis:milo, The Pipettes, The Cribs, Architecture In Helsinki, Apartment and Misty's Big Adventure playing for your pleasure, and this one promises to be just as fun so we expect to see all your lovely faces (and bodies) in attendance.

Not a man to keep his opinions to himself. And when he voices them, it most often results in someone being offended, outraged or otherwise aghast. His carefully crafted songs about suicide bombers, serial killers, sellotape and sex often get members of his audience riled, and though there have been a few frightening threats, he's never yet been punched. As The Guardian says, "The genius of Chris T-T's songwriting is his ability to humanise even the most outlandish conceits. They seem instead like brilliant ideas that no-one else could've come up with." T-T's gift is to tackle life's grand themes, such as war, money, love, sex, and death, and transform them into highly personal, and highly emotional, songs. "I'm an overweight, middle class, white, comfortable, English songwriter," he says. "I've never felt any of these things through personal experience. I've never been bombed, I've never had an Israeli tank driven over me. The only way one can do it is to get into the mindset of individuals." Releasing records since 1999, his newie is called '9 Red Songs' and is arguably his best and most quotable work to date.

The collective children of Worthing, Erith, Cheshire and Dimchurch met in London. They're set to release their debut single in early 2006. "London Trash pop kids 586 sound like a night drinking alcopops in the park, bottled into under-three-minute portions of headstrong, hyperactive agit punk. They're '70s glam-punks The Rezillos running from the rozzers, they're Art Brut spilling the Long Blondes cider. So good, we'd even hold their hair back when they're inevitably being sick next to the swings." - NME (demo review). ACTION PLAN
A London-based band very popular at DiS towers thanks to their shit-kicking, guitar-mangling mini anthems. And shouty bits. They make a grand old noise out of broken down amps, happiness that has gone kaput. And you will know them by the trail of empty vodka bottles. The band recently released their debut single on Young & Lost Club Records. "Intelligently noisy and fuzzily spiky," so said us. "Dark sinister post-rock," so said Artrocker. "The last song just sounded like a wall of noise, it was horrific," so said someone on a Razorlight fansite. Fine praise indeed.

SAMSA
Samsa are a 3-piece band from Leeds, West Yorkshire. This year has seen them share the stage with the Duke Spirit, The Young Knives, Oceansize and Duels, as well as airplay from Steve Lamacq who made 'First, The Lights' his unsigned choice of the week. The track is due for release on Dance To The Radio records in Jan 2006. Samsa released their debut single in summer 2004, a limited edition 7" called 'Quiet
Places', on Leeds label Mook Records (The Cribs, The Decoration, Rudolf Rocker). The single prompted a
wave of enthusiasm from press and radio, and enjoyed extensive airplay on Radio 1, courtesy of the late, great John Peel. Drowned in Sound called it "a cracker" and Sandman Magazine "suspiciously good".

GARRETT
Four people who gave up on the music magazine led obsession with the art-rock disco stylings of the thousands of identikit skinny-tied bands, and turned their ideas to create something that taps into the darker heart of London. Haphazardly wired boxes of electronics sit together with guitars, drums, toy keyboards, synthesizers and samplers, all played with reckless abandon and absolute ferocity. Garrett are an extension of the no-wave movement, via some twisting alleyways down the back of more experimental rock and abrasive, minimal punk.

Formed in January 2005 through an ad on DiS. They've been rehearsing since at Enterprise Studios on Denmark Place and drinking at The George across the road or the Jack Horner down Tottenham Court Road - inspired by many-a-band to make propulsive fucked-up unhinged beautiful pop music - named after Atelier Populaire - be realistic, demand the impossible - guitars fly - drums collapse...
