The normal thing to confirm and announce the release date of your album is to send a press release round. Sure, some of the more maverick performers may try something a bit different, like a viral video campaign or something similar. Not M.I.A, though.
The outspoken singer/rapper/etc. apparently hired a motherhumping BLIMP to tell the world (well, anyone who was gathered at Coachella festival at the weekend) when her new record would hit the shelves. As well as carrying a message that she'd be performing at HARDFest in New York and Los Angeles, another piece of information revealed that the new record would be out June 29, which could possibly make the UK/Europe release date June 28.
What is known about this mysterious third LP? Well, according to certain sources (read: Wikipedia) the list of collaborators involves Blaqstarr, Diplo, Rusko, Derek E. Miller from Sleigh Bells and Switch.
Earlier last month she was due to 'do' an album playback thing somewhere in London, all very exclusive but I don't think she ever turned up, which must've been annoying for those present. Whether this was planned or not is another matter...
