2010 is the year Pavement return. The corner has now been turned. We await live-shows a-plenty, their curated ATP, as well as that best-of they promised us...what happened with that exactly? Well, I shall tell you what happened with it, as they've just told me/us, in the form of one of those e-mail press release thingamies. OK.
Anyway, the best-of was confirmed but now we actually know what's going on with it. Sort of. It's called Quarantine The Past: The Best Of Pavement but, from now on, for convenience purposes will be referred to as Quarantine The Past, or QTP.
It's going to be released on March 8 this year, and features 23 tracks being released in various formats - double LP, CD and digital, with tracks spanning the WHOLE of the band's career. No f**king unreleased material, though. Tight!
We can't, I'm afraid, give you the tracklisting as it's not actually available for public consumption. There is, however, a competition to guess it, which comes with prizes for first, second and some other runners-up, naturally. First prize is the track listing closest to the actual end-product and second prize is for the most imaginative tracklisting. You have to wonder how imaginative 23 previously-released tracks can get, eh? The first track is 'Gold Soundz', btw.
The winner will get themselves a whole bundle of things, flights, tickets and hotel rooms to see Pavement play in Central Park on September 21, plus a shitload of vinyl. Second prize will see you get your own tracklisting pressed in vinyl, 5 copies of which.
Anyway, enough of that blurb, pre-order it from here, enter the comp here and listen to a re-mastered version of 'Gold Soundz' here.
