Affairs of the Hert: Friendly Fires announced as headliners for Standon Calling
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater May 19th, 2009

Hertfordshire is famous for Knebworth House and...not much else in the way of music, aside from Gallows and Enter Shikari. It's also lesser known for the Standon Calling music festival, for which the fantastic Friendly Fires have been announced as Saturday night headliners.

Other acts who have just been added to the festival include Golden Silvers, Mumford & Sons, Tommy Sparks, Dent May, Banjor Or Freakout, Pulled Apart By Horses, Flashguns, Freeland and Detroit Social Club.

Freeland are a supergroup, of sorts, with Adam Freeland as band leader, Joseph Alberto Santiago (Pixies) on guitar, Tommy Lee (Pamela Anderson) on drums and Twiggy Ramirez (Marilyn Manson) on bass. Super indeed!

Standon Calling started out as one man's birthday but, although it's grown and grown, a capacity of 3000 is still pretty intimate for a full-on festival. Especially one with Tony Christie.

Ticket prices are £89 for weekend camping + £2.50 booking fee which goes to the Phoenix Futures charity. This year's theme is 'space'.

Among the other acts performing are: Tim Ten Yen, Ladytron, Tony Christie, Chrome Hoof, Micachu, We Have Band, Casiokids, Jonquil, Son Of Dave, Selfish Cunt, Adam Freeland and We Have Band.

For more information and tickets click here for the official website. Standon Calling takes place from July 31 - August 2 in Standon, Hertfordshire.
