Despite the best efforts of ‘wagon jumpers everywhere, it seems that Converse’s cool will prevail ‘til the last, dead ends of time. Case in point: Dr. Who busts them. If there’s a chance you could wake up at any plotted point in this or any other universe’s spacetime continuum, it appears that Converse Allstars are a pretty safe bet for instant cred. Anyway, to celebrate their 100th birthday, Converse have brought together a host of names to collaborate on a series of pop songs – the first triumvirate comprising Santogold, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D..
‘My Drive Thru’ is the first fruit to be plucked from the Three Artists, One Song campaign, which will also feature contributions from Bradford Cox, YACHT and members of Gallows, Fiery Furnaces, Does it Offend You, Yeah? and Care Bears on Fire. It’s out as a free download from Converse.com from tomorrow (10 Jun) but you can hear it streaming at NME.com, AllHipHop.com and Stereogum.com. Where are we going to send you? Click.
