DrownedinSound has just received word of the initial Sunday line-up for this year’s Wireless Festival. Prepare to wince.
Joining headliners Counting Crows at the event in London’s Hyde Park – Leeds, on reflection, can consider itself mercifully spared – will be Goo Goo Dolls, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Powderfinger, Delays and Eddy Grant.
The Hold Steady get our hopes up momentarily, but if what happened previously was an annoying blow to the bridge of your nose, here comes the kick in the balls – Donovan Frankenreiter (“a pioneer of acoustic rock in his native US where his song ‘Free’ was a staple on Triple A radio”), The Galvatrons (“unique ‘outta space’ live antics which fuses 80s synthesized pop with massive ‘Van Halen’ style guitar riffs”) and Bowling for Soup.
Tickets for the day, which comes on the 6th of July, cost £40 at early bird prices (subject to a booking fee) from here. Earlier acts confirmed for other days at Wireless include Fatboy Slim, Bootsy Collins and Underworld.
