MTV has plans to launch a free internet 'channel' that will show a selection of its quality programming (yes, don't worry, that includes 'The Osbournes') within the next few weeks. The MTV Overdrive website will cater to users with high-speed computer connections, allowing them to access music videos and extended programs on demand. It hits computer screens everywhere on April 25th.
Jason Hirschhorn, MTV's senior vice president of digital music and media, said that the channel was being launched in response to the high number of young fans with broadband.
Walt Disney, Microsoft, and other companies have already set up similar systems to provide content for online viewers.
