Oh hello there. Here is what's coming up courtesy of DiS in London this month.
Tue 29 July @ Dublin Castle...
DiS and Club Fandango present...
AN EVENING OF CHAOTIC MUSICAL MAYHEM.
** LUDES have quite rightfully been raising eyebrows, pricking up ears
and setting tongues wagging of late. Hailing from Camberwell, they mix
that garage rock thing with, errr, shanties. You can lazily call them
"the garage rock Coral" if you like, which is not as shit as it sounds.
Their debut single, 'The Luckiest Theatre/Walkin’ The Black Dog', is released in August.
LUDES ARE ONSTAGE AT 10:15PM

** CAMERAN have produced not only the best demo this listener has heard for
- ooh -bloody ages, their CV doesn't look too bad either. They've played
round Europe with RHCP, Supergrass, The (International) Noise Conspiracy
and Soulfly. The demo was recorded in October and if you think along the
lines of Jane’s Addicition meets Rage Against The Machine etc then you're
on the right tracks.

** DIVE DIVE are a powerpunkpop quartet from Oxfordshire, featuring
ex-members of Dustball and Unbelievable Truth. Their first double A-side
single, 'Good Show / Swedish Song', was released on Idle Records on 21st July
(Cargo distro). Oh, and they rock.

**thisGIRL are emo kings who play an EXCLUSIVE set to properly test out new material before hiding in a major-label-paid-for studio, to record their sophomore album. As they're a late edition and to get folks in early, they open the night..
The Damage: £5/4 (with flyer)
The Doors: 8.00pm - 1am
Wed 30 July @ Brixton Windmill...
** (X) IS GREATER THAN (Y)
Rock with a cello, from Birmingham. Since DiS first encountered them, they've toured with Queen Adreena and Winnebago Deal, released a couple of singles and a much-praised debut album on Fierce Panda. "Incorporating the start stop craziness of the Pixies, this record sounds like Sebadoh gnawing away at Muse's backbone while Blur skulk jealously in the background. Biting guitars battle it out with sensous strings creating a pleasant clamour that is in equal parts both fresh and nostalgic." - Kerrang! (4/5). "Your new favourite band" - Steve Lamacq

Female-fronted five-piece from sunny Surrey, clearly quite pissed off with things, as they spit out energetic and angry riffery (we like that word). Grrr. They played Guildford festival this month, and their debut single is released on August 4th.

** SWOUND
Nottingham pogo-friendly punkers making their first visit to the captial. "Purveyors of play school party rock, sea shanties and songs played in the style of angry fourteen year olds," according to themselves. Ooook. Their promising 'Planet Of Swound' demo is available for consumption.
