Miranda's picks for Reading...
Miranda's picks for Reading...
mIossifidis by Miranda Iossifidis August 22nd, 2002
Running around all day a prerequisite because not only are you here to smell great and taste good (cheers for the baby wipe advice Gen m'dear), but hey! there's music here too, what a treat. So, if we're starting on Friday (which I guess we are unless you're slack and haven't got a ticket), the Miranda rule is one band from each tenté! I'll break it, so watch yerself, hah.

Friday Dance Stage-oooh!!!U.N.K.L.E., how exciting! seriously. And it says 'sounds' so that could be enthralling. And also, just because I'm the kind of person who values band names and artwork much too highly, Luke Vibert sounds like he should be a nice sounding chappy.

Carling Stage
Now, armed with the knowledge of my aforementioned infatuation with names, y'all know that ex Murder City Devils Pretty Girls Make Graves are currently rockin' my stereo. Track 3's on repeat, can't wait to hear it in the flesh. It's gonna be disco dancing whilst working 'the point' in a way you've missed. Twisting guitars, girl moan yells. And then there's The Kills another girl fronted (and similarly occasionally male dueted) band (what's happening to me?!) on Domino you should all check out. They have this anthem you'll be singing along to called 'Cat Claw', yeah yeah yeah. style. Nudge nudge...

WEEZER!

And on Saturday I'll be found bopping along to the (blink before it's almost so uncool even your lil bro tuts 'rites of fucking spring') virtually Vagrant-sponsored Concrete Jungle. Because I know all the words. And it feels good. Hah!

All the while, although enjoying herself, Miranda feels the need to combust because Cave-in, (I)NC and Ben Kweller are entertaining the Carling Stage. (But luckily she has cloned herself and is hence in 2 places at one time). For those of you not acquainted with BK, all I'll say is that if it's sunny you'd better be there. Beautiful brightandlazy songs sprinkled with a little Malkmus magic, a sha here and there, and fun in bounds.

FOO FIGHTERS!!

And although boasting a line-up that won't see me bored, Sunday is the kind of 'seen it all' day, where I won't be peeved if I miss a band I like, really. Unless I wake up late, decide to maybe wash my hands or brush my teeth instead of legging it to the early to catch Death Cab For Cutie. Why they are on first when they are (one of) the ultimate 'i'm drifting off to sleep in this fucking amazing dream because the music's floating me to a beautiful place' bands, is so baffling it might incite me to stop writing. And the world cries for joy!

Overandout. Enjoy yourselves!
