It's not every day that we get a rush of excitement so insatiably captivating that we feel the need to have to tell our friends (i.e. you) all about it right away.
However, that was the feeling we got last Saturday night (November 1st) at The Royal in Derby thanks to LA-based quintet The Airborne Toxic Event's quite astonishing first UK headline performance. Musically there are elements of the likes of Modest Mouse, a more pop sensible National or even a less pretentious Arcade Fire - check out 'Wishing Well', surely a contender to be next year's 'Rebellion (Lies)' and undoubtedly set to be a staple of many an indie club night for years to come. Throw in hooks that have the immediacy of the first Strokes record and a clutch of tunes that simply ooze a "once heard, forever cherished" notion about them and we guarantee you'll be charmed in an instant.
Currently embarking on the 30 Shows In 30 Days tour that runs throughout the entire month of November, including several dates with fellow DiS faves Chairlift, their self-titled debut album, released to a hail of critical acclaim back home in the States in August of this year, finally comes out in the UK in January 2009 on Majordomo Records. We've got our copy on order already and we think you should too...
