Primarily we are a ska-punk band but strongly feel that we shouldn't be categorised too specifically, our influences are broad and diverse, and we draw inspiration from things that can be considered out of the ordinary and we think our music reflects this. That said we try not to take ourselves to seriously and like to take the piss. Our music is a personal reflection of ourselves and Tad is careful to ensure that lyrics etc, are not in anyway pretentious, we dont sing about going on dates and wanking just to get on the band wagon. We hope that people can get something from our music, whether it may produce a smile, a frown or a tear, any big reaction is a good one.
How did you get together as a band?
About 2 years ago before we knew each other we each received ransom style notes mysteriously in the post one morning, each containing a barely legible paragraph explaining that at 2pm that day we must proceed to Conrad Splashbacks partially laminated shoe factory. We met in the factory at a table with an upturned trilby hat and a note telling us to pick a slip of paper from the hat. Tad picked vocals and bass, Alex picked guitar and backing vocals and subsequently Texen [Justin] ,was left with drums. To this day we don't know who sent the letters.
Describe your music to us.
We are another nu-metal band and our influences are Papa Roach and Linkin Park...but seriously, we are a melodic new school punk band with a dollop of ska a twist of jazz and a light sprinkling of metal. We try to add these elements when we feel the song needs it.
What would you expect from a Scandal live show?
A shit sound man, an unresponsive crowd and an amusingly small fraction of the ticket sales. Well that's what we get anyway but everyone else can expect a whole hearted performance which we try to make as interactive as possible. We spend a long time thinking of things we can do to interact with the audience and make the night more interesting. This may consist of spontaneous and random acts of violence or arson. Some of these have included lobbing beer cans into the crowd, prizes for best moshes, smashing up townie music C.Ds with a pink baseball bat. We got bollocked for people diving off balconies and fucking themselves up once as well.
What are your hopes for the Scandal in the near future?
We hope to be in a position where we are doing as many gigs as possible, and really getting our name out there. We want to share our music with a wide audience, while keeping both feet on the ground. It pisses us off how many bands are selling out these days. We would like to receive the attention that we perhaps deserve but you will never see us on the front cover of loaded or see us on CD:UK In terms of the near future, we would like a tour and a record deal would be damn handy.
Tell us about your up and coming record
Since our last CD our songs and style have evolved allot. Our new CD will be out very soon. We have been to this studio before and we hope that this new CD will be a more accurate demonstration of what we are about. We have had al lot in mind for this CD but we'll just have to see how it turns out.
How did you get your band name?
We were in a Scandal which happened to be of national magnitude.
What's life like as a member of National Scandal when the evil trio get together?
We are best friends as well as a band so we hang out a lot of the time. We try to focus at band practices and get things done. but we definitely have a laugh, often this involves GTA3 and marijuana intake. Tonight we hope to master the construction of a joint in 1 minute 30 seconds.

I would rather not tell a joke as there really aren't any funny jokes around. We like humour to be more spontaneous, but I suppose I could ask you why the lion got lost in the jungle.....because "Jungle is massive"
Can I have your socks?
err...well since Take That split up, we've given up wearing socks, but you can have 3 pairs of soiled boxer shorts if you like.
