The obligatory basshead thread, or 'The Week in 12"s'
Sorry, yet another one I know, but I do think that the sheer volume of quality dubstep/bass/whatever 12"s coming out at the moment deserves a thread for discussion. So this is a kind of 'here are the newly released tunes seriously floating my boat right now' list. And I'm aware some of these have their own thread, but hey, it's always good to consolidate.
This might be quite a nice thing to keep rolling every couple of weeks, if people wanna add good new bass bits here?
Geiom - Sugar Coated Lover [Berkane Sol]
Right, so this is a house tune, but Geiom regularly makes dubstep-tempo tracks, the remix is by Brackles and Shortstuff, and the original is one of them most divine slabs of vocal house I've heard for ages. It's been too long waiting for this one to come out (and he's playing in Bristol on Friday!)

Badawi - El Topo/Dstry Prfts (Shackleton Remix) [The Index]
So it turns out Badawi's been doing the deep, mystical bass/dub stuff for quite a long time - longer than Shackleton in fact. Which makes this all the sweeter, full of canned synths that stab like early grime and rolling, Middle Eastern drum patterns. Shackleton remix with Vengeance Tenfold is even darker and more dystopian than usual.

LV & Untold - Beacon/Mount Kimbie Remix [Hemlock]
I've been getting a little worn out with Untold's sound lately. Yeah, it's brilliant, and hyperkinetic, and fantastic on a dancefloor, but what was once shiny and new feels slightly dulled by overexposure. So it's great to hear he's still got these sort of deep and dark mood pieces in him. LV bring out the dubby vibes more obviously, and the entire thing comes across as a masterpiece of subtle programming - when the soft and reedy melody finally appears, it's an all too brief resolution. Mount Kimbie's remix is one of the finest things they've yet put their name to as well.

Addison Groove - Footcrab/Dumbshit [Swamp81]
Footcrab footcrab footcrab f-f-f-footcrab footcrab footcrab f-f-f... (http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4249517)
No explanation, just mindless brainmelting mayhem.

Actress - Paint, Straw & Bubbles/Zomby Remix/Maze [Honest Jon's]
Actress' music is unbelievably hard to place. On the one hand there are the obvious UK tropes - Zomby in as remixer, bass-heavy smoky atmosphere, fuzzy claustrophobia - but then there's also an open ended and experimental bent to tracks like 'Maze' that recalls Warp, Basic Channel, Detroit techno and a whole lot else.
