Thu 20/10 - Rudi Zygadlo/ Dauwd/ patten - MacBeth Hoxton - Paint It Black
RUDI ZYGADLO headlines live at The MacBeth for Paint It Black this Thursday. “One of the key players of future electronica” (Clash Mag), his tracks eagerly absorbing and manipulating influences from hip hop, dubstep, bluegrass, psychedelic pop and classical music to create extraordinarily smart yet fundamentally fun, engaging and danceable new sounds.
His first London date in an age, and since the release of his brilliant Achtung EP on Pictures Music, one of our favourite releases of the year by far.
You can listen to a track from the EP and read a deservedly excellent review here :

“This new EP on Pictures Music is perhaps his most adventurous work to date, but it’s also the most fully formed; classic songwriting and innovative production conflate, creating a bold sound that’s as interesting as it is accessible.” Mercury Music Prize Recommends

The somewhat mysterious patten just released his debut album GLAQJO XAACSSO on the very discerning No Pain In Pop label.
Many reviews reference 90s Warp acts as well as Flying Lotus, Actress and Nathan Fake but all pick up on just how much promise patten shows.
“befitting of inevitable acclaim, as it is a debut as riveting and obvious as it is shrouded in unanswerable questions.” Drowned In Sound
