I'm a Spanish music photographer, journalist, Dj and producer, and mostly a cultural activist currently living in Liverpool. I've been following intensely the Barcelona Underground scene for the last five years, attending to more than a hundred concerts per year. Currently I work for Spanish music magazines (Mondosonoro, Go, Rockdelux, Heineken Musica) as well as with some newspapers and foreign websites (Pitchfork), and festivals (Primavera Sound). I'm co-founder of a music label called 'Doble Vida Discos', responsible of releasing very limited splits on 7" vynil, each one shared by a Spanish and a foreign band. First references include Extraperlo + The Ruby Suns and Hello Cuca + Comet Gain.
It is hard to state a list of my favourite bands, as it could last for pages. Summing up I'm a big pop music lover, as the expression was firstly understood. From Beat and 60's bands, Ye-Ye Girls, first garage bands to surf pop bands, all girls soul bands or northern soul. From the mid-tempo classics of labels such as Creation or Postcard to the indie supremes of the nineties from the basements of K Recs, Jeepster, Fortuna Pop, Elefant, Slumberland to name a few. Anyway I try to have always an open ear for every new band that is released whether it is poppy or noisy or anything that at least have a catchy melody in beneath and scapes the dark reigns of commercial music industry.
