Swaying gently out of Manchester on a pop-riddled frenzy of Pixies dust, *Tricky Nixon *finally give us the debut release we’ve been waiting for. Harmonies curse through the fraught summery anthem of the opening number, _‘Kick’ _and the quartet end up sounding more like an edgy Feeder than a melodious Foo Fighters. Comparisons to either band, however, cannot be taken lightly. There is a certain temerity about this band as they craft enormous, sparkling examples of pre-grunge. *Rhydian *and *Ritz *blend those to&fro sugar dynamics that Black and Deal did a decade ago with impudent ease during the wonderful _‘Silverdolls’ _and with an album on the way shortly there is much more to be expected.
