Love it or hate it, Mark Greaney's helium-fuelled voice is back for another three minutes of quiet/loud falsetto wailing.

They may have a new bass player in the aptly named Sarah Fox, but little else about JJ72's angst tinged indie has changed in the time they've been away. It's a reassuringly familiar formula, with cooed verse descending into a heavy chorus that threatens to make those hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.

It's a fairly inoffensive few minutes of indie-angst pop, but a good comeback single should hit you smack between the eyes. This, on the other hand, sneaks up behind you and taps you on the shoulder.

Still worth a listen, though, if just for Greaney's pronunciation of "I'm" in the verse...

JJ72 - Coming Home

Spot on. I love JJ72, and was hoping for a pretty storming comeback single, but this just screams 2 1/2 out of 5 from the rooftops. I mean, it's not awful, but it's just a bit meh. Pity. I hope there's better to come on the album.

JJ72 - Coming Home

Have yet to hear it.
Doesn't sound too good by reading this review...
Not that jj72 were ever really good...

Re: JJ72 - Coming Home

Can't understand the Puressence comparison.

Puressence were GREAT !

JJ72 are generic indie with some good tunes.

Re: JJ72 - Coming Home

Just listen to it.
Spot on review.
Not their best tune and not their worse, but certainly not good enough to announce the new album.
Still, one of the B-sides is far better.

JJ72 - Coming Home

JJ72

I really like the single, perhaps not the strongest but I wud have gave it about an 8. I think Mark Greaney has a brilliant voice.
