Yousef’s career at the top end of the dance music world shows little signs of abating, and this latest production offering is set to storm dancefloors and get limbs twitching wherever it’s dropped.
Former resident at Liverpool’s legendary Cream club, Yousef is now a bona-fide globetrotting discspinner, whose lust for the biggest and phattest hiphop/house beats has morphed over the years to encompass the diverse and compelling artistry of the genre. The Drum Bums, his production collaboration with fellow heavyweight Stevie Mac, is a jumpin, bumpin collision of rough-edged house and funkit loopery, which was first showcased on 2001’s 'The Darkness' 12” - which promptly became the biggest ever seller on Steve’s Dysfunctional label.
‘Circus Parade’ is more of the same, and in spades. Initially released on Yousef’s new Carioca imprint, it’s a 12 minute extravagance of floorit and flirt techy disco of disproportionately hypnotic and uplifting driving deliciousness. Already an Ibiza hit, it’s easy to see why it’s had support from a host of major DJs including Pete Tong, Darren Emerson, Roger Sanchez and Paul Woolford. Trust me, this is something that’ll have you reaching for the water bottle in a major way.
The Carioca version of the track also features Yousef’s own remix, with the followup 12" including a remix by Mr. Wally Lopez to be released on Dysfunctional later this year.
