People either love or hate ska.

People either love or hate [spunge].

Simple as…

[SPUNGE] no idea why they have those brackets either, but they’re the UK’s most active live band, probably (if you know of any who plays more please ring the men in white coats). Skanking from 32-date tour, to 30-date tour; to support tours in big venues with some chauffeur driven daaahlings off mtv; to playing to 300 fans in a 200 capacity venue in some small town, somewhere, anywhere with electric; a pattern which would baffle most travelling aliens. Something that sets them 10 hard working leaps apart from most bands. If you ever want some stories about sleeping on strangers floors, they've probably got one for every town they've ever played in.

This is their third record, ’The Story So Far’. This record does sound like one of their sweaty gigs which you leave grinning so much it hurts. It’s an album that mentions the Rik Mayall classic flick ’Drop Dead Fred’, that German cut The Mullet, crap girlfriends, the music biz, being in a band, Fight Club food treatment, touring, the strife of life… pretty standard band lyrics really. Honestly, you won’t get any morose, acoustic, the singers nearly asleep, and the pale bassists not even broken a sweat, underachieving type crap round these parts! This is Madness, Sublime, ‘A’ and LA-punk done by and for kidz who love this kind of stuff! Simple as.

This record sounds like the band are ready, after about 4 years of hardworking to finally reach those hooded MASSES on our streets. They’ve earnt every penny they get back from this record, which doesn’t break any boundaries, so what, who gives a shit? This is about fun! Simple as..

“Everybody, JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!”

[spunge] - The Story So Far

is tower records sponsering this site or somthing? ive seen a few links to buy stuff from them.

Re: [spunge] - The Story So Far

They must be, because nobody would give such a shite pub band 4 stars for such a terrible band.

I'm suspicious.

Re: [spunge] - The Story So Far

This is the voice of Tower Records, you will stop your internet use and quietly walk outside of your house, a hit squad will be around shortly to dispose of you. thank you for your co-operation.

(terms and conditions apply, the hit squad could actually be Blazing Squad and their method of disposal could actually be to cover r'n'b songs in your general direction, the results however, will be the same)

Think about it, every band has a link to the relavant Tower Records website area, you'll also note that we often link to bands who are putting our records on their own, or to ticket lines etc, are we selling out to *everyone* or something?

If you think we're trying to fool you into buying the [spunge] album to line our own pockets, then just say it

and in my opinion, you'd have to be a fool to buy it, but hey

ollie.

Re: [spunge] - The Story So Far

yeah, but why tower records? i mean its not as if [spunge] are some hard to find band only available in selected internet stores, similarly everyone already knows about tower records, its seems unnecessary and thus i was questioning why mention them. unless,of course, alterior motive, etc etc

Re: [spunge] - The Story So Far

We've just set-up an affiliate scheme, cus like, we run this site voluntarily, no one gets paid and it'd be nice to cover some of our expenses.

Plus Tower is cheaper than most places and for people who dont live in a major city it might be hard to get.

We won't be putting these links on every review i just wanted to try it on a couple, see if people actually click them, etc.

We get 4% of the sale, like 30p, hardly worth me doing a good, bad, or indifferent review. I liked the album, have booked the band at shows about 3 times over the past 4 years, i like them, i said so. Each to their own...

[spunge] - The Story So Far

Did you know that "SKA" stands for "Shaka Khan's Afterbirth"?

Well, it doesn't.

Re: [spunge] - The Story So Far

[spunge] are great, they make great ska and are amazing live, id advise everyone to see them and get a copy of pedigree chump...production is a bit shite but u get the essence of the songs

Re: [spunge] - The Story So Far

Yeah everybody lay off [spunge]. I own all 3 albums and despite the low budget recording there is still some great music on there (Nothing to Hide on Room For Abuse etc.) Anyway they're great live so go out and be happy!
