Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

Reading and Leeds, or The Carling Weekend, if you're into corp'isms, has announced more bands...

So, the ads say SPECIAL GUESTS half way down the stage and them there guests have been revealed already. No, it ain't a reformed Meanswe@r nor Gary Barlow, instead Mean Fiddler have pulled out all the stops and got us The Distillers (Friday Reading, Sat Leeds) whom we're sure no-one gave a crap about until a few months ago when they had that good single and Brody had been gettin' jiggy with a Queen of the Stone Age. But who are we to say what's SPECIAL. Brody will be a punk warrior princess oozing sex appeal, which isn't unspecial, but it's hardly the long awaited return of Tool or some crazy Marilyn Manson side-project with Suicide Girls and Soulwax.

Where were we... Yes, more bands have been announced. Lots more. Interestingly Sony's hyped band of the moment, Modest Mouse are a new addition to the Radio 1 Stage in Reading on Friday and Leeds on Saturday.

The Carling New Bands tent has been announced too. Manc-indie lovers Kasabian co-headline with the lushness of The Shins at Reading on Friday and Leeds on Saturday. Mark Lanegan (who cancelled last year!) and Mondo Generator (featuring Nick Oliveri) co-headline at Reading on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday. And The Kills play the very same stage for the third year in a row, still on Domino, still featuring Jamie from Scarfo and his girlfriend VV they headline Reading on Sunday and Leeds on Friday.

Also playing across the weekend are The 45s, Agent Blue, Amplifier, Autolux, Danko Jones, The Departure, Dios, Do Me Bad Things, The Duke Spirit, The Features, The Golden Virgins, The Glitterati, Infrasound, Kaiser Chiefs, The Living Things, McClusky, My Red Cell, Pink Grease, Riff Random, Roxy Saint, Terra Diablo, TV On The Radio and YourCodenameis:Milo.

Last week, we forgot to tell you that joining the Radio One Stage are The (International) Noise Conspiracy, The Walkmen and The Open (Friday Reading, Sat Leeds), Stereolab (Sat Reading, Sun Leeds) and The Fiery Furnaces, The Futureheads and Eastern Lane (Sun Reading, Fri Leeds).

Lastly, the Concrete Jungle stage has been announced, it's headlined by top 10 skater-rockers 'A', with a supporting cast of , Sick of it All, Goldfinger, Dillinger Escape Plan, Bouncing Souls, The Starting Line, Coheed and Cambria, Flogging Molly, Alexis On Fire, Allister, Alexisonfire and The Holiday Plan.

DiScuss: Happier now? Do we sound as bitter, cynical and jaded as Pitchfork yet?

so its basically the whole desert sessions line up minus "the man himself"

Re: Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

I think the idea is it's two seperate sets. But probably with some special guests from bands only hardcore stona wok fans have heard of. They're bound to be bands with sillier names than Fu Manchu too.

Re: Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

oh sure
ive no actual doubt that they will play their own songs, p'raps with some cross collabo.
was refering to the dahlle (sp) as well.

Re: Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

Ikara Colt are apparently banned from the festival because they let the crowd invade the stage 2 years ago. Yay to the shins and mondo though

The Kills played the Radio one stage last year not the Carling tent. Fullerov is right, Ikara Colt are banned. I've just noticed that alot of bands I want to really see clash, why does this always happen?

Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

I did not know that matey from The Kills was also matey from Scarfo.

You learn something everyday.

At least today it was something mildly interesting.

The hell? Two bands named Alexis on Fire? The only band I know with that name is a screamo Canuck band called Alexisonfire. Who is apparently playing. So whosis other one?

Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

you know, this year i was very sceptical, but it looks like it's pulling through at last. now, i'm going to discover that every band i want to see is playing at exactly the same fucking time. the joys of it all.

and yeh, any chance of that DiS meet up happening? would be interesting to say the least...well for me, down here in narfolk, never having seen anyone from here. yay meetups!

Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

Damn, it's always the Carling Stage that saves the Reading/Leeds lineup every year. I might have to go for a day now and hope that Mclusky play on the Saturday, not clashing with the Mozmaster.

Re: Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

same band.
it's alexis on fire not alex is on fire, is it not?

Reading/Leeds adds: Kaisers, Distillers, Bad Things, Shins, Oliveri...

the main stage is always fairly bad, I can't understand why some bands like yellowcard are playing on that stage, when they really shouldn't be playing at all. Does anyone have any idea who will be playing the dance tent? I heard a rumour that radio 4 & !!! might be playing it, has anyone else heard this rumour?
